Re: [WM]: an attack to text watermarking

the only application i can see for text watermarking is authentication. it is like only the original owner of the document can know wether the document he finds is the original one or not. but nobody else can discover this unless they were provided with the key and algorithm.

do anybody have ideas about another application?

Dear Stephen Chou,

Usually, the text watermarking is performed by modified the structure of the original document, such as reassigning the distance

among words, lines, etc. since you in no way know the information of the original document. The transcribed document by an attacker
often include the watermark because you don't know how to rewrite the document to destroy the watermark. In other words, if the
transcribed document manually is published somewhere, the copyright owner may extract the hidden messages from the document. As a
result, the transcribed document will be identified as the illegal.

Dear all,
I have one basic question to text watermarking.

A
document is watermarked before publication. if the watermarked doc is transcribed manually by a person, that is, he uses a pen to

write down the document into a paper, he may publish the transcribed paper for his sake. I am wondering the watermarking tech
can
resist such an
attack?

Thanks
