Re: [WM]: Question about Digimarc watermarking patents
Dear watermarkers,
Readers might be interested in very early (audio) watermarking work reported in "Simultaneous subliminal signalling in conventional
sound
circuits: a feasibility study", BBC Research Department Report No.
1971/1, by P.C.J. Hill . Available from www.bbc.co.uk/rd in http://www.bbc.co.uk/rd/pubs/reports/1971-01.pdf
It describes embedding m-sequences, spectral shaping to reduce audibility, and echo hiding, as well as a number of other techniques.
Even if there were any patents from that work, they would have expired by now.
Yours faithfully,
Andrew Mason
