[WM]: what's the difference between detection and extraction

Dear advanced Watermarkers:
I'm a rookied in this filed. 
Recently, I study some papers and I found many figure in the experiment = part.
Because I didn't find the unit of measurement , I'm  confused the = general definition of "detection response".
What is the meaning of the x-axis or y-axis ?

If some advanced can give me a introduction , It's  my pleasure.
