*STOCHASTIC IMAGE PROCESSING GROUP*
*COMPUTER VISION AND MULTIMEDIA LABORATORY*

An application is invited for a PhD position at the Stochastic Image = Processing Group (SIP), Computer Vision and Multimedia
Laboratory (CVML), University of Geneva, Switzerland. The successful
applicant w ill be a part of a well established team
of researchers developing new methods for digital data hiding,
document security and mobile technologies. Our overall aim is to produce fast transparent solutions that address the real needs
of= users of Digital Multimedia in the Information Age.
The expertise of the ideal applicant should fit the following profile= in decreasing order of importance:
· digital communications
· information theory
· wireless communication protocols
· statistical image processing
· image and video watermarking
· cryptography
Scope of project: document authentication.
*SALARY*: about 45'000 CHF per annum - (see
http://www.oanda.com/ for currency conversion).
*STARTING DATE*: 1 July, 2006.
*PROGRAMMING SKILLS:*
Experience in software development using Matlab is mandatory, C/C++ a= nd Java (at least one is needed).
*LANGUAGE*: Excellent skills of speaking and writing English are = mandatory, knowledge of French is welcome. French is the
spoken language in Geneva so some knowledge of French is necessary, as well= as
the willingness to learn more in order to
participate to department activities.
