[WM]: Signature-based Scheme: New technique for copyright protection?
Dear all,
Recently I read some papers that aim to solve image copyright protection problem without embedding any information. They calculate a
robust signature from the image and use this signature later for copyright verification.
---------------- Examples of this technique are ----------
1. Chen, T. H., G. Horng, and W. B. Lee, "A publicly verifiable copyright-proving scheme resistant to malicious attacks," IEEE
Transactions on Industrial Electronics, vol. 52(1), pp. 327-334, 2005.
2. Lee, W. B. and T. H. Chen, "A public verifiable copy protection technique for still images," Journal of Systems and Software,
vol. 62(3), pp. 195-204, 2002.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The above papers suggest to add the calculated signature to the image header for public verification. This signature addition to the
header is dangerous if somehow removed.
An alternative solution could be to store signature in owener's database or TTP database and later use for verification. However, it
requires to store the image along with the signature. To keep the DB small and to increase search efficiency other technique could
be exploited.
Could you please give your own opinion?
