[WM]: Testing watermarked image using photoshop

  Hello Watermarkers,
   
  I would like to check my watermarked image for its robustness against noise and JPEG compression and other attacks. 
   
  According to the reference paper "Applying informed coding and informed embedding to design a high capacity and robust watermark
by M.L. Miller, G.J. Doerr and I.J. Cox"
   
  They have plotted Message Error rate Vs Standard deviation of the gaussian distribution. To add noise I have used photoshop. Can
some tell me how to relate  "Percentage of noise" given in photoshop and "standard deviation" in the paper. 
   
  And also help needed in other test of error rate versus scaling up, scaling down and low pass filtering. It would be thankful if
you can help me doing these test using photoshop. Other standard procedure will also be fine.
