[WM]: improved wavelet based watermarking

dear watermarkers,
I'm trying to implement Barni et all watermarking algorithm in they paper "improved wavelet based watermarking trough pixel wise
masking"  and I found difficulties in detection process, such as:
1. why it's using correlation between the watermarking sequence (x) and the marked coefficient?
2. what is watermarking sequence anyway? is it the same as pseudorandom binary sequence?
3. Why it's using variance of random variable to measure the threshold (Tp) that's all for now, hehe, Is there any of you have
already studying about it or know anything about it? would you be kind to explain it to me....thank you.
