[WM]: Embedding domains

Hi all,
   I was just wondering why so much focus has been placed on the DTC, DFT and DWT domains for watermarking? Do these three domains
have certain features over other transform domains for the purpose of watermark embedding? Perhaps it was just people following what
other people had done! 
Any help or thoughts on this would be appreciated.
