[WM]: medical image watermarking

hi,
  I am new in this field and I'll need your help.
Does anyone know which image processing operations are allowed with medical images? By this I mean on compression, filtering,
geometric distortion etc..
 Which requirements should watermark satisfy  to be applied for medical image watermarking?
