There is far more than one kind of color images.
There is also far more than one kind of color watermarks; they depend on what you as the watermarker intends to embed.

If your mark is an image you might split it into color channels similar to the way your host image is organized and then embed the
mark channels into the host image channels. However there may be far more sophisticated methods. You might want to investigate
yourself.
