[WM]: definition of template

Hello,

I have come across different definitions and the use of the word "template"

In multiple watermarking case, one would be used for first for payload and second one is used for synchronization purposes. can the
this second watermark be called a template ..

In single watermarking case, let say we extract specific patterns with the watermark (grid based with using tiled watermark) to see
if there was any distortion, and if any detect them. does this consitute a template ..

interestingly the dict defn of template goes as http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=template

The glossary in sarnoff site does list the word template as well ..
