[WM]: QIM: Robustness to Gain Attacks

Dear watermarkers!

I have been reading the watermarking literature about robustness of Quantization based embedding methods against scaling a.k.a. as
gain attacks ... I have seen that there is current of research trying to tackle the problem by estimating the gain factor applied to
the watermarked image and correct, while other people are aiming to use a domain which is invariable to such a gain ... I am
currently interested in the latter approach ...

I have identified the following papers, which I think are the current
state-of-the-art:

1) F. PÉREZ-GONZALEZ, C. MOSQUERA, M. BARNI, A. ABRARDO, " Rational Dither Modulation: a Novel Data-Hiding Method Robust to
Value-Metric Scaling Attacks", 2004 IEEE International Workshop on Multimedia Signal Processing, Siena, Italy, September 2004

2) Licks, V.; Ourique, F.; Jordan, R.; Perez-Gonzalez, F. "An Exact Expression for the Bit Error Probability in Angle QIM
Watermarking Under Simultaneous Amplitude Scaling and AWGN Attacks" Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005. Proceedings.
(ICASSP '05). IEEE International Conference on, Vol.2, Iss., March 18-23, 2005
Pages: 801- 804

3) Ourique, F.; Licks, V.; Jordan, R.; Perez-Gonzalez, F., "Angle QIM:
A Novel Watermark Embedding Scheme Robust Against Amplitude Scaling Distortions"
Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005. Proceedings. (ICASSP '05). IEEE International Conference on, Vol.2, Iss., March
18-23, 2005
Pages: 797- 800

Can I compare these different methods ?

Are there any other references that I should look at ? I am looking forward to hearing from you!

Best,

Luigi Martini
