This session focuses on digital watermarking and information hiding =
techniques. It provides an excellent opportunity for researchers
and practitioners to present as well as to keep abreast with the latest =
developments in watermarking and information technologies.

Digital watermarking and information hiding is a new research area, =
combining aspects of digital signal processing, cryptography,
statistical communication theory and human perception. With the =
increasing accessibility of digital source media, the protection of
ownership and the prevention of unauthorized alteration has become an =
important concern. Digital watermarking and information
hiding, a scheme to embed data or watermark into a cover data object, =
have been used for such purposes. In the last few years the
theoretical foundations of watermarking and information hiding have =
advanced very rapidly. Modeling the watermarking or information
hiding process as one of communications with side information resulted =
into improved watermarking or information hiding algorithms
as well as accurate models of the channel capacity and error rates. At =
the same time, watermarking or information hiding security,
i.e. the ability of watermarking or information hiding to serve in a =
scenario where the presence of an enemy explicitly aiming at
nullifying the watermark or hidden information goals, whatever they are, =
has been recognized as one of the main open issues
watermarking and information hiding researchers must face with.=20

It is the goal of this session to present research analyzing the =
watermarking and information hiding process from an information
theoretic point of view, trying to obtain general results on reliable =
recovery of watermark and hidden information, capacity,
optimal detection and channel coding for improved performance. Papers =
analyzing watermarking and information hiding security either
from a theoretical or a practical point of view, e.g., by relying on an =
information-theoretic, or cryptographic approach, are
solicited as well. Large-scale experimental papers are also encouraged =
particularly comparing the performance of different
algorithms or actual algorithms with theoretical models.

Areas of interest include (but are not limited to):
 Mathematical modeling of watermark embedding and detection
 Mathematical modeling of information hiding (steganography)=20
 Steganalysis (detection of hidden information)
 Information theoretic and stochastic aspects of data hiding
 Security issues, including attack modeling and counter-attacks=20
 Reliable watermark and hidden information recovery
 Estimation of watermark and hidden information capacity
 Channel coding techniques for digital watermarking and =
information hiding
 Bounds on error probability
 Large-scale experimental tests and benchmarking
 New statistical and perceptual models of content.
 Copy protection and DRM=20
 Anonymous communications=20
 Digital forensic
 Software watermarking
 Database watermarking
 New applications, security issues and legal aspects
Application of natural computing in digital watermarking and =
information hiding

All submissions will be peer-reviewed by Referees expert in the topic. =
Accepted papers with proper registration will be published in
Springer-Verlag=A1=AFs Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) which is =
indexed in SCI-Expanded. A selected number of authors will be
invited to expand and revise their papers for possible inclusions in =
peer-reviewed international journals / edited books.
Publication requires at least one author to register for and attend =
ICNC=A1=AF05 in order to present the accepted work.

Instructions for Authors
Papers submitted for the special session should be submitted directly to =
