[WM]: Use of Digital Watermarks for counterfeit detection

Hello

I am a software engineer required to work on Document Security using = digital watermarking. I want to know how digital watermarks
can be used = for counterfeit document detection. I basically want to distinguish the = first print out of a document from the
subsequent prints and scans of = the documents.

I think an approach could be to embed a digital watermark which can only = persist with the first print and scan cycle. Further
printing and = scanning should destroy the watermark information.

Suggest some good links, books or papers to look for. Also suggest if = there's some alternative approach to realise the level of
security = required as described above.
