It is pretty simple; 
 
If a movie released today, from now to next 3 months time, if the CD is not available in the market, producers are very happy and
they will get back their money as moviegoers tend to watch it in the cinema theatres. 
 
In order to make this happen, technology should help to avoid the illegal vedio shooting of the movie screening. Probably the
modulation helps the movie owners to protect their images from screening. I am not quite sure at this point of time. 
 
For your question on copying CD to CD is not really a big threat. With watermarking this can also be protected too.
