[WM]: PhD positions: University of Geneva
PHD POSITIONS IN THE
STOCHASTIC IMAGE PROCESSING GROUP,
COMPUTER VISION AND MULTIMEDIA LABORATORY

Applications are invited for several PhD positions with the Stochastic
Image Processing Group (SIP), Computer Vision and Multimedia Laboratory
(CVML), University of Geneva, Switzerland. The successful applicant will
be part of a well established team of researchers developing new methods
for the watermarking, compression and denoising. Our overall aim is to
produce fast transparent solutions that address the real needs of users
of Digital Multimedia in the Information Age.
The expertise of the ideal applicant should fit the following profile in
decreasing order of importance:
· statistical image processing
· information theory
· digital communications
· image and video watermarking
· image and video compression and coding
· signal theory
· cryptography
· computer vision
SALARY: about 48'000 CHF per annum - (see
http://www.oanda.com/ for currency conversion).
STARTING DATE: 1 April, 2003.
PROGRAMMING SKILLS:
Experience in software development using C/C++ and Java is desirable for
both positions.
LANGUAGE:
Good knowledge of either French or English is mandatory. French is the
spoken language in Geneva
so some knowledge of French is necessary, as well as the willingness to
learn more in order to participate to department activities.
