    I have read the following paper.
    B. S. Manjunath, C. Shekhar, and R. Chellappa
    A new approach to image feature detection with applications. 
    Pattern Recognition, 29(4):627--640, 1996.
    
  I think you can use the 2D Fourier Transform to implement this feature detection model.
1) To calculate the 2D FT of image(represented by I)  and the Gabor wavelet filter(represented by G)
2) To calculate the convolution of I and G,represented by W
3) To calculate the 2D Inverse FT of W
